To raise the level of ethical behavior in the financial services industry
What systems, structures, and practices might lead to unethical behavior in retirement income planning? Do retirement income planners worry that these unethical practices are harming clients? We surveyed hundreds of retirement income professionals and conducted 31 follow-up, in-depth interviews to answer these questions.
As the only ethics center within an academic institution focusing exclusively on the financial services industry, The American College Cary M. Maguire Center for Ethics in Financial Services promotes ethical behavior by offering programs that go beyond the rules of market conduct to help executives and producers be more sensitive to ethical issues and think more critically about ethical solutions.
The Forum on Ethical Leadership is an annual event that brings together practitioners from financial services companies and business ethicists from academia to engage in meaningful conversation about ethics in the industry. The event features a discussion of several key issues confronting the financial services industry, along with an examination of practical ethical dilemmas encountered by executives during their careers and questions raised by business ethicists from colleges and universities around the country.
